In contrast gallbladder muscle relaxes (-) in response to nitric oxide (NO), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), progesterone, pancreatic polypeptide (PP) and peptide YY. Cholesterol impairs motility. The sphincter of Oddi is dilated by CCK and following the activation of a local refuxfrom the gallbladder.
